Security Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2025

This page outlines encryption, infrastructure hardening, incident response, and internal control practices used to protect Capitova systems and customer data.

Security Model

We apply a defense-in-depth model across infrastructure, application, and operations.

Coverage

This policy covers encryption, access controls, monitoring, backups, and incident response processes.

Report Security Issues

Please report vulnerabilities to securitysupport@capitovaventures.com.

At Capitova, security is not an afterthought; it is foundational to how we build and operate our platform. We handle sensitive financial data, business metrics, and investor information. This document outlines our security practices, commitments, and your role in keeping your data safe.

1. Infrastructure Security

  • Cloud Hosting: Our platform is hosted on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified providers.
  • Network Security: All traffic is protected by enterprise firewalls, DDoS mitigation, and intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Redundancy: Our infrastructure is deployed across multiple availability zones with automated failover to ensure high availability.
  • Monitoring: 24/7 infrastructure monitoring with automated alerting for anomalous activity, performance degradation, or security events.

2. Data Encryption

  • In Transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3 with modern cipher suites. We enforce HTTPS everywhere; HTTP connections are automatically redirected.
  • At Rest: All stored data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption. Database backups are encrypted with the same standard.
  • Key Management: Encryption keys are managed through a dedicated key management service (KMS) with automatic rotation and strict access controls.

3. Authentication & Access Control

  • Password Security: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a high cost factor. We never store plaintext passwords.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): MFA is available for all accounts and strongly recommended. We support TOTP-based authenticator apps.
  • Session Management: Sessions are securely managed with automatic expiration, re-authentication for sensitive operations, and the ability to revoke all active sessions.
  • Role-Based Access: Access to data and features is governed by role-based access control (RBAC). Users only see data they are authorized to access.

4. Application Security

  • Secure Development: We follow secure coding practices aligned with the OWASP Top 10. All code undergoes peer review before deployment.
  • Dependency Scanning: Automated scanning of third-party dependencies for known vulnerabilities, with alerts and patches applied promptly.
  • Input Validation: Comprehensive server-side input validation and output encoding to prevent injection attacks (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF).
  • Rate Limiting: API rate limiting and throttling to prevent abuse and brute-force attacks.
  • Content Security Policy: Strict CSP headers to mitigate cross-site scripting and data injection attacks.

5. Data Protection & Privacy

  • Data Isolation: Each customer's data is logically isolated. Strict access controls ensure no cross-tenant data access.
  • Backup & Recovery: Automated daily backups with point-in-time recovery capability. Backups are encrypted and stored in geographically separate locations.
  • Data Retention: We retain data only as long as necessary. Upon account deletion, all personal data is purged within 90 days (see our Privacy Policy for details).
  • Data Portability: You can export your data at any time in standard formats (CSV, JSON) through the platform.

6. Internal Security Practices

  • Least Privilege: Team members are granted the minimum access necessary for their role. Access to production systems is restricted and audited.
  • Employee Training: All team members undergo security awareness training and are trained on secure development practices.
  • Vendor Assessment: Third-party vendors and integrations are evaluated for security compliance before integration.
  • Audit Logging: Comprehensive audit logs track access to sensitive data and administrative actions. Logs are immutable and retained for compliance purposes.

7. Incident Response

We maintain a documented incident response plan that covers identification, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review:

  • Detection: Automated monitoring and alerting systems detect potential security incidents in real-time.
  • Response: Our security team investigates and contains incidents within hours of detection.
  • Notification: Affected users will be notified within 72 hours of a confirmed data breach, in compliance with applicable regulations (GDPR, etc.).
  • Post-Mortem: Every security incident is followed by a thorough post-mortem to prevent recurrence.

8. Responsible Disclosure

We welcome reports from security researchers. If you discover a vulnerability in our platform, please report it responsibly:

  • Email: securitysupport@capitovaventures.com
  • Please include a detailed description and steps to reproduce the issue.
  • Do not access or modify other users' data during your research.
  • We will acknowledge your report within 48 hours and provide updates on our investigation.

We are committed to working with the security community and will not pursue legal action against researchers who act in good faith and follow responsible disclosure practices.

9. Compliance & Standards

We are committed to aligning with industry-recognized security standards and frameworks:

  • OWASP Top 10 - Application security best practices
  • GDPR - Data protection and privacy (EU users)
  • SOC 2 Type II - Operational security controls (in progress)
  • ISO 27001 - Information security management (planned roadmap)

10. Your Security Responsibilities

Security is a shared responsibility. We encourage you to:

  • Use a strong, unique password for your Capitova account.
  • Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Keep your devices and browsers up to date with the latest security patches.
  • Do not share your login credentials with others. Use the platform's built-in sharing features for collaboration.
  • Report any suspicious activity to securitysupport@capitovaventures.com immediately.
